Dual Controls Information |
| |
Dual controls are connected by cables or rods to the main clutch and brake
pedals and are sometimes fixed, moving with the main controls, or static so it won't trap the passenger's/instructor's foot. Our Universal cable controls are specially designed to eliminate the risk of trapping feet which could be potentially dangerous.

You can see in the image above that the pedals are linked behind the dashboard so the Driving Instructor can, if necessary, take full control of the brake and clutch pedals instantly to either assist a new pupil with control of the cars speed and gear changes or, in an emergency to prevent any kind of accident that would put the occupants or other road users at risk. As you can imagine, dual controls are a must for all instructor vehicles including cars, buses or lorries to ensure a safe working environment. |
| |
Dual controls take approximately 2 to 4 hours to fit depending on the type of system you have chosen and the make of vehicle you are using for driver instruction. If you request a mobile mechanic to carry out the installation please ensure there is room to open both front doors of your vehicle at the fitting location. No permanent marks are made to your vehicle and the pedals and cables can be removed quite easily at a later date. You or your pupils will not notice any difference in the operation of the vehicle pedals. |
